With quiet hours strictly observed, no formal programming, and an emphasis on privacy, artists have complete freedom to retreat into their practice. Communal dinners are the only scheduled events, balancing solitude with supportive community.

Program Details & Financial Support

​

• Duration:
  Residencies at Yaddo vary from two weeks to two months, accommodating up to 30 artists at a time.
   

• Application Process:
  Applications are accepted twice yearly, with deadlines on August 1 and January 5. A non-refundable fee of $35 is required. Applicants are evaluated based on the quality of their work, with no specific publication or exhibition prerequisites.
   

• Cost & Financial Aid:
  Yaddo provides residencies at no cost to the artists, covering room, board, and studio space. Additionally, modest access grants are available to help offset other expenses, ensuring accessibility regardless of financial background.
